Baking Skillz...

Edit Posted by with 6 comments
I have never been one to shy away from the kitchen, but it's a special treat for me when I get to bake a cake from scratch. I'm currently procrastinating  in the middle of completing my 100 in 1001 goal list and one of the first goals I tackled was successfully baking a rainbow cake.

I've seen many variations of rainbow cakes and even some that are so far beyond what I feel I have the ability to create, but I had to give it a try at least once!

This was honestly my second attempt. My first attempt was using a Martha Stewart recipe for her version of a rainbow cake. The layers on my first attempt were so thin and the cake tasted aweful. I decided to simply use a recipe for a cake I had previously test and loved and the result was this vanilla buttermilk rainbow cake. This cake was time consuming, MASSIVE and was a challenge to layer without it toppling over (definitely use straws), but definitely worth the trouble! I was a bit disappointed with some of the coloring. I ran short on red so I figured it would be okay to use pink gel food coloring to make the red richer. Instead of brightening the red, it simply came out pink. The purple was also gel food coloring that turned out to be a bit more on the blue side than I would have liked. Oh well!

I doubled the recipe of the cake linked below. I highly recommend this recipe!

Blog Updates...

I haven't been updating this blog as much as I intended partly because of being a full time student with finals approaching and partly because I'm trying to figure out how to make this blog more personal.

The blog came about because of my Etsy store, but I'm hoping it will grow into more than that. I'm hoping to (through trial and error) include more of myself and hopefully convey more than just what I sell on Etsy.

This is my goal for the next week now that I'm catching up on everything that was set aside during my finals.

I love connecting with fellow bloggers and crafters so if you are reading this and you have a blog of your own, please leave me a note in the comments here so I can follow you as well.

Happy Holidays! :)

Feels Like I'm Running Behind...

But I'm slowly but surely catching up!

I finally got the Eeyore Baby Sleeping Bag up (Clicky clicky)  and I will be listing an Avenger's Baby Sleeping Bag on Etsy hopefully today. It's all finished, but I still need to take some decent photos.

Until then, here is a sneak peek (my camera phone just cannot show how colorful this baby sleeping bag is!)

Have a wonderful day! :)

New items are on the way!

I'm hoping to get a few new pieces on Etsy, hopefully today. I have a purple satin and polka dot dress to post and I'm trying to finish a zebra print romper like the one I have in my shop that will be a custom order piece in newborn to 24 months (I just have to redo it with buttons that I know I can get again).

I also have a romper I'm finishing that will be size 6 months and there will only be one for now. I'm not sure it will ever be a made to order piece, but truthfully I'm leaning towards no. Here's a sneak peak...

Doesn't look like much now but it will be awesome!
